New Mutants has a zany and lovable cast of characters, but perhaps no character fits that description better than Warlock, Cypher's Technarch best friend. The character was planned to appear in the New Mutants film at one point, though those plans were eventually scrapped. However, concept art of the character reveals what the famed Technarch could have looked like in the film.

Concept Artist Deryl Braun posted his Warlock concept art on Instagram. The caption simply reads, "A few years back this gig was my first Movie related work. Thanks again to @ironkladstudios and @jfields217 for this. Will drop some more Concepts soon. #marvel #thenewmutants." The first image reveals the fan favorite Technarch with his signature goofy smile while the second image in the carousel features Warlock on the attack.

Created by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, Warlock joined the New Mutants in the first volume's eighteenth issue in 1984. By issue #21, he finally joined the team officially and he remained a New Mutant until his untimely death at the hands of Cameron Hodge in issue #95. He returns in Excalibur as Douglock, a reanimated Warlock who had been given Doug Ramsey's memories. However, Warlock soon regains his own consciousness, and eventually, Doug is also resurrected. Aside from the New Mutants, Warlock also had stints in other titles including 2014's All-New X-Factor.

The Technarch is slated to have a presence in the newest X event, X of Swordswhere he will play the role of Doug Ramsey's sword. He was previously being hidden from the rest of the inhabitants on Krakoa, laying low by attaching himself to Doug's arm.

New Mutants film director Josh Boone previously revealed that his early drafts of the script included Warlock. In those early drafts, he had envisioned Borat's Sacha Baron Cohen playing the famous Technarch. The film's VFX budget wouldn't allow the team to create both Warlock and the Demon Bear, leaving the studio no choice but to cut Warlock from the film.

Directed and co-written by Josh Boone, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes. The is now in theaters.
