The latest trailer for The New Mutants brings on the Magik.

The 45-second teaser reveals a lot of new footage, up to and including Illyana Rasputin's magic-based power set. Additionally, the spot confirms the long-awaited film will host its own ComicCon@Home panel on Thursday, July 23 at 2 pm PT.

The ComicCon@Home trailer opens with a promise that the New Mutants are dangerous -- and that they aren't going anywhere. Soon, the kids find themselves confronted with their "greatest fear." For Roberto, that's a burnt corpse; for Sam, a mine shaft. The girls face more abstract threats, as when Rahne confronts the wolf within her.

"This place is designed to keep us inside," Roberto announces, which Rahne confirms: "He's right. It's magic."

"So am I," Illyana shoots back, standing in front of what appears to be a portal to Limbo.

Following this exchange, a final montage sends the New Mutants into action. In the sequence, Illyana wields her Soulsword and her iconic eldritch armor, which she wears on her right arm. One shot reveals Roberto in his full Sunspot form, while another shows Sam powering up and rocketing down a hallway as Cannonball.

The New Mutants has the unique and unfortunate distinction of having four previous release dates. It was initially set to debut on April 13, 2018. The New Mutants was then pushed to Feb. 22, 2019. Soon, it landed on Aug. 2, 2019, and then April 3 of this year. Reasons for the delays range from reshoots to lean into the film's horror to Fox being purchased by Disney.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, The New Mutants was delayed again until Aug. 28. It is unclear if it will retain this spot or if a new release date will be announced during the ComicCon@Home panel, as many theater chains remain closed at this time.

Directed and co-written by Josh Boone, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes. The film arrives in theaters Aug. 28.
