This summer, it was announced that the next spinoff to the “X-Men” franchise would tackle the group's younger cast of mutants, colloquially known as the New Mutants. Now, it looks like we may know who the villain for the film could be.

The folks over at ComingSoon have recently obtained an incredible piece of animated storyboard from the film, and if the storyboard stays true, then we can confirm that Demon Bear will be the film’s main villain. Much like his name suggests, he is in fact a gigantic bear, one that draws his powers from humans negative emotions. The creature is also capable of teleporting and corrupting others souls -- so he’s a fairly formidable opponent.

ComingSoon also reported that 20th Century Fox is targeting a Spring 2018 release date for the film, which would coincide with the March 2, 2018 date they currently have slated for an Untitled Marvel Film. As far as tone goes, it’s currently rumored that the film will be a huge break from what we normally see in the “X-Men” universe. It’s being described as a “Stephen King meets John Hughes-style horror movie."

Also in the report was the confirmation that Maisie Williams ("Game of Thrones") and Anya Taylor-Joy ("The Witch," "Split") are currently being courted for the roles of Wolfsbane and Magik, respectively. Nat Wolff ("The Fault In Our Stars") is also apparently being eyed for the role of Cannonball.
