"New Mutants" Screenwriter Says First Draft Is Complete

According to Josh Boone's Twitter account, progress is being made on "The New Mutants," an X-Men spinoff film that was first announced back in May. Boone let fans know that the first draft of the film's script has been completed.

Boone, who directed the 2014 film adaptation of "The Fault in Our Stars," is attached to direct "The New Mutants" as well as co-write the film; that's "New Mutants" producer Simon Kinberg and Boone's co-writer Knate Gwaltney tagged in the tweet above.

Boone last gave an update on "New Mutants'" progress in mid-August when he posted an image to Instagram of a partially completed script. A longtime comic book fan, with the pictures to back that claim up, it's not yet known which mutants Boone has included in his script with Gwaltney.

No release date has yet been announced for "The New Mutants."
