Director Josh Boone has revealed a little more about what audiences can expect from the frequently delayed comic book film, The New Mutants.

In an interview with Collider, Boone discussed the length of the film, revealing about its runtime, "I think it's 98 minutes or something like that. It was never more than 104 even at its longest." He went on to explain that the original cut was approximately 20 minutes longer than that. He added, "We put together all the deleted scenes for everybody. It was more just stuff that was too funny or tonally just didn't quite go together, but it's cute character moments that I think fans will like."

Boone said he was three-quarters of the way into editing The New Mutants for 20th Century Fox when it was put on hold while the studio was sold to the Walt Disney Company. When the film was put back on the roster, editor Andrew Buckland helped him complete it, as his preferred editors Matthew Dunnell and Rob Sullivan were finishing The Stand miniseries Boone directed.

Directed and co-written by Josh Boone, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes. The film arrives in theaters Aug. 28.
