The first trailer for The New Mutants definitely lived up to the film's billing as a spooky, horror-infused thriller. Now Fox has doubled down on that theme with the release of two brief teasers for the X-Men spinoff that offer more questions than answers.
The first is a five-second video that displays two crucifixes resting on a table beside a silver bowl, accompanied by the message, "The sins of our past." A shadow can be seen quickly passing over the objects. While that could certainly be the Demon Bear that stalked the young mutants in the Marvel Comics source material, the religious symbols would seem to point toward Rahne Sinclair -- the shape-shifting Wolfsbane played by Maisie Williams -- an orphan raised by an abusive pastor who struggles to keep her feral tendencies at bay.
The next 10-second clip depicts a window with bright light streaming through, illuminating a dying bird that twitches a leg on the sill. This video's message reads, "Some things can't be caged." Again, that could either reference the Demon Bear or Wolfsbane.
Arriving April 13, 2018, director Josh Boone’s The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane, Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Sunspot, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Cannonball, Anya Taylor-Joy (Atlantis) as Magik, Blu Hunt (The Originals) as Danielle Moonstar and Alice Braga (Queen of the South) as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.
