Another Life's Blu Hunt, who is of Lakota ancestry herself, stars as the canonically Native American hero Dani Moonstar/Mirage in the upcoming film The New Mutants.

When speaking to Empire about the role, Hunt said that playing an indigenous superhero was "an honor." She added, "I'm not just in the background, to please people. I'm carrying the movie."

Hunt went on to describe how co-star Maisie Williams helped her calm down as they were watching The New Mutants for the first time. "I never thought I'd see myself in a movie, and the first shot is of my face!" Hunt said. "I was shaking in the theatre, but Maisie grabbed me, like, 'You’re good! It's good!'"

Hunt's character of Dani Moonstar is a mutant with the ability to create nightmarish visions of people's worst fears. Created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, the character first appeared in 1982's The New Mutants. Dani Moonstar has appeared in the X-Men: Evolution animated series as well as the Marvel Heroes video game.

After already experiencing many delays, The New Mutants faced another push back due to the coronavirus outbreak, which has delayed the release of several films. A new release date for The New Mutants has not yet been announced.
