New images from Josh Boone's The New Mutants show off the movie's visual effects and a closer look at the villainous Demon Bear. Although The New Mutants has faced a slew of delays and still has no new release date, that hasn't stopped the last of Fox's X-Men movies from continuing its marketing campaign.

The latest issue of Cinefex magazine shows off the stunning visuals of Anya Taylor-Joy's Magik in the magical dimension of Limbo. As well as the character's ties to Limbo on the pages of Marvel Comics, it's here that she'll have a showdown with the Demon Bear. Method Studios handled the visuals and went for an environment that was based on "geometric bismuth crystals." Elsewhere, there are images of Blu Hunt's Mirage coming face-to-face with the Demon Bear and a closer look at the terrifying Smiley Men.

Whereas early marketing campaigns focused on Hunt's Dani Moonstar, the latest images put Taylor-Joy's Illyana Rasputin front and center. Even though Mirage is the one that's thought to have the connection to the Demon Bear, Magik has put her powers to use to battle the dark entity. The Smiley men were featured in the movie's early trailers, however, fans have a better understanding of what's going on under their masks. The toothed monsters also reportedly have a tie to Magik's past.

The shadowy Demon Bear first appeared in 1989's  The New Mutants #3 and became the de facto villain of the acclaimed "Demon Bear Saga." It's unclear how close Boone has stuck to Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz's source material, however, the Demon Bear clearly has a big presence in The New Mutants.

The New Mutants was originally set to release on April 13, 2018, which has led to some claiming Boone's movie is cursed. Since then, there have been debunked reports of reshoots and rewrites alongside yet more delays. With the latest images hyping the eventual release of The New Mutants, those who've stuck with its lengthy production schedule will have to wait just a little bit longer to see the junior team of mutants and Demon Bear in action.

Directed and co-written by Josh Boone, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.
