After much delay, The New Mutants movie is finally on its way. Now, the film's official Twitter account has unveiled another poster for the upcoming project.The caption simply reads, "These are the new mutants. April 3, 2020."
The New Mutants is a film adaptation of the comic series by the same, which was created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod in 1982. The original lineup consisted of Cannonball, Karma, Mirage, Sunspot and Wolfsbane.
After the apparent death of Karma, the team roster expanded to include Cypher, Magik, Magma and Warlock. The movie will adapt "The Demon Bear Saga" from New Mutants volume 1.
In the original story, the Demon Bear haunted Danielle Moonstar aka Mirage, taunting her by claiming that he killed her parents and would kill her next. Danielle tried to confront him on her own but was badly wounded in the process. Later, the New Mutants banded together to fight the Demon Bear, successfully disrupting his powers with the help of Magik's Soulsword. The film will take a horror-inspired approach to the story, adding new material through its adaptation.
The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy (Atlantis) as Magik, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Cannonball, Blu Hunt (The Originals) as Dani Moonstar and Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Sunspot. The film arrives April 3, 2020.
