Domino is one of the luckiest people around, and that's not only to do with her probability-altering powers. This member of the New Mutants and very quickly X-Force thereafter got in on the ground floor of the huge boom in popularity of the world of the X-Men in the early 90s. She quickly became a hallmark character, and like any popular mutant character, she gets a new costume every so often.

Domino's basic look remains relatively consistent, but the details vary quite a bit depending on the era (and the medium - she's now a big-screen star). Here is every Domino costume, ranked.

10 First Appearance

Domino first appeared in the pages of New Mutants #98, but it wasn't really Domino. It was a character called Copycat, which was very complicated. That said Copycat earned her name because she got Domino's look down cold.

Much of her signature visual elements were in place from the beginning, including the black eye patch. Her black leather jacket and white and black pants would form the basis of many of her later costumes, as would her many pouches, which would increase or decrease depending on the era.

9 2018 Series

In 2018, Domino got a new series and a new look courtesy of writer Gail Simone and artist David Baldeon. This costume greatly simplified many of her earlier looks, while also emphasizing her classic black and white color dichotomy.

Another unique feature of this design is her turquoise harness straps. These brace her sides as usual but link into a new and unusual belt with a glowing buckle. This outfit is much more practically suited armor and padding wise than some of her earlier looks.

8 Doppelganger

X-Force Domino Doppelganger

At some point, a comic book character becomes popular enough that the natural thing is to give them an enemy that is more or less their exact opposite. With Domino, they gave her the inversion of herself. This negative image of Domino debuted recently in the pages of X-Force #7, as an assassin with the Xeno group literally grown from patches of Domino's skin.

This character has black skin and a white circle around her eye and white hair, the complete inverse of the real Domino (Domino has a problem with copycats it seems).

7 Six Pack

Cable Six Pack Romita

Before she was a real member of the X-Force, Domino fought alongside Cable as part of the heavily armed Six Pack. She was appropriately outfitted for the occasion. Her costume during this era consisted of her typical black bodysuit and early 90s headcrest, with some major differences in armor.

Domino covered her entire body in segmented bands of armor, which varied in color between purple and brown. This was customary of the team, which was one of the most heavily equipped mutant teams ever.

6 X-Force (Capullo)

After Rob Liefeld left X-Force to co-found Image Comics in the early 90s, epic Batman and Spawn artist Greg Capullo took over artistic duties on the book. The entire team got a makeover, and Domino got one of her more interesting looks. Capullo took some of her existing design elements and streamlined them, including the purple headcrest.

The straps, pouches, and ammo clips all carried over, worked into a new design that made Domino one of the most visually dynamic characters of the era.

5 Deadpool 2

Luck had nothing to do with Domino's awesome big-screen debut in Deadpool 2. For the movie, her comic book look got streamlined into a simple black sleeveless bodysuit (though still with plenty of ammo and pouches).

Domino also got a pair of goggles that have never really been part of her comic look but work here. Her iconic eye patch is there, though not as uniform in shape as the comic book one. Hopefully, it's not the last that fans have seen of the character or the franchise, in a bit of limbo since the Disney takeover of Fox.

4 Deadpool Vs. X-Force

Domino Deadpool v XForce

The Deadpool vs. X-Force mini-series from 2014 flashes back to the original first encounter between the merc with a mouth and the militant mutant group. The costumes the team wears in this series all harken back to their originals, with some variations.

Domino's look echoes her early costume, especially in the black pants with white paneling. A big difference that helps make this one unique and cool is her collar, which is much more pronounced and pliable than any other iteration. This Domino has a real swashbuckling feel.

3 Wolverine X-Force

XForce

X-Force always straddled the line between good and bad, but when Wolverine took over the reins, things really got dark. The new identity of the X-Men's 'kill squad' was reflected in their aesthetic. Domino always wore dark outfits, but she gave up her purple and midnight blue for straight black here.

The black bodysuit has some silver accents and is modular. At times it has some armor, while others it doesn't. It depends entirely on whether the mission is stealth or combat.

2 X-Force (2018)

The black and silver look Domino adopted with Wolverine's X-Force evolved in the 2018 iteration of the team. This version incorporated new members like Deathlok, and the black and silver got much more busy design-wise.

Domino added shoulder pads, a burnt orange X insignia over her heart, and her tunic changed from a zip-up piece to a tunic with some lace elements. Domino wore this look for a while, but this version of the team didn't last too long, eventually reorganized in the wake of the Dawn of X.

1 2003 Series

Domino 2003 Costume

In 2003, Domino got a solo series and her best costume to date. This all-black bodysuit actually prefigures some of her more recent costumes, but most importantly, the MCU suits of Black Widow. The outfit included a lot of built-in padding and armor which was not usual for the period and is basically the entire visual language of the MCU these days.

It also features multiple straps and pouches as usual, but much more practical and realistic. It's hard to look at this uniform and not see where the MCU got some of its ideas later down the road.
