WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for New Mutants #3 by Ed Brisson and Flaviano, on sale Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Things are going pretty well for mutants in the Marvel Universe. Gone are the days of mutants being hunted and killed for being born different. Now, there is genuine hope for a better and brighter future where mutants become the dominant species in the world, in large part due to the actions of the X-Men.

Mutants from all over the globe -- good and evil -- have relocated to the island of Krakoa, where the X-Men have established a new sovereign nation. The final issues of the House of X and Powers of X miniseries displayed how the X-Men have thrown a celebration in honor of their new status quo, and the launch of the Dawn of X titles have focused on some of these themes.

New Mutants follows a mix of the original New Mutants team and a few members of Generation X, as they head off to space to convince Cannonball to come and experience the wonders on Krakoa. Of course, their mission got off to a pretty rocky start when they were double-crossed by the Starjammers, resulting in their capture by the Shi'ar. One trial and a guilty verdict later, the New Mutants were reunited with Sam Guthrie and immediately put on a mission to bring Deathbird back to the empire. However, the team isn't the only group of young mutants to star in an ongoing series.

The X-Men grew its roster of students with the launch of New X-Men, with the students broken up into different squads: the New Mutants and Hellions, among others. One of the students in New X-Men is Armor, created by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday in Astonishing X-Men #4. Hisako Ichiki would eventually graduate to become a fulltime member of the X-Men, playing a role in Uncanny X-Men's "Disassembled" weekly series.

Armor is back in a preview of New Mutants #3, and she is joined by Glob as they bask in Krakoa's greatness. While everyone else is partying, Armor can't help but think about her friends that haven't shown up on Krakoa. She heads off to ask Sage who has and hasn't made an appearance on the island.

Sage reminds Armor that all mutants got Charles Xavier's telepathic invitation to come to Krakoa. Those who haven't shown may be settling their affairs first, but Armor believes that some may need help finding their way.

After calling out the already accounted for Bishop and Dazzler, Armor discovers Beak and Angel Salvadore are missing. The duo were Armor's classmates in New X-Men, and their disappearance is enough for Armor to get started on tracking them down. Beak and Angel could be living happily ever after with their six kids, or they could be in trouble. We won't know until Armor starts her investigation. More than likely she will bring some more of her friends along, which should lead to a pretty entertaining issue of New Mutants.
