If the trailers for "The LEGO Batman Movie" didn't make it clear, the animated comedy will not only embrace the humor of "The LEGO Movie," but also elements of comic book lore and the 1966 television series. For proof, we need look no further than these new minifigures unveiled this morning by LEGO.
In addition to the Caped Crusader in his mask and robe, the 20 minifigs include a selection of alternate costumes (Caveman and Glam-Bat, among them), Dick Grayson with shark repellent, Batgirl, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Commissioner Gordon, Catman, Orca, King Tut, the Red Hood, the Calculator, Zodiac Master, a couple of henchmen, and someone who may be Livewire.
The minifigures will be available in January, ahead of the premiere of "The LEGO Batman Movie."
Directed by Chris McKay from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith, the film stars Will Arnett once again as Batman, who must overcome his fear of being part of a family, take responsibility for his adopted son, and learn the importance of teamwork if he hopes to stop The Joker's takeover of Gotham City.
Opening Feb. 10, 2017, "The LEGO Batman Movie" also features the voices of Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, Michael Cera as Dick Grayson/Robin, Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Mariah Carey as Mayor McCaskill and Jenny Slate as Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn.
