The Legion of Super-Heroes by Brian Michael Bendis boasts one of the largest casts in comics. By launching the series with so many Legionnaires, there's a lot of questions about the team that fans are wanting answers to. Granted, there have only been three issues, and some questions that existed at the beginning have been answered. Some new ones have popped up, though.

In some cases, it ties directly to the story that Bendis is telling. In others, it derives from what fans have come to expect from the Legion. It seems time to lay them out there so we can see what we know and what we don't know. Also, expect spoilers if you haven't been reading the series.

10 Who's Dating Whom In The Legion?

This comes from that first image that Bendis took onto Seth Myers' show. It eventually showed up in Legion of Super-Heroes: Millennium #2. In that image, Dream Girl is leaning on Mon-El and looking very affectionate. In the third issue, we learned that Cosmic Boy and Shadow Lass are dating. Are all of the traditional pairings out the window?

Traditionally, Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad have been a couple, as have Ultra Boy and Phantom Girl. It doesn't look like too many Legionnaires even knew who Ultra Boy was before the first issue. It may just be similar to the Threeboot Legion where most old relationships didn't survive.

9 Who Is the Legionnaire That Looks Like A Skeleton In a Green Suit?

Ever since the first team shot, fans have speculated about the identity of this mysterious hero. The appearance is bizarre, with a clear skeleton inside of a green and yellow suit. From the body shape, this is a female Legionnaire. However, even with multiple "Frichtman Tags" we have no idea who she is.

The possibilities are seemingly endless. She could be a gender-swapped character like Chemical King or Radiation Roy. She could be Infectious Lass. She could be a new Bendis creation that won't be covered in the upcoming issue that features them. She could also be another character that we have questions about.

8 Who Was Soultaker In Doomsday Clock?

When this version of the Legion showed up at the climax of Doomsday Clock #12, it celebrated the return of the Legion. However, it did not go without questions, namely who was the mysterious member that gets a close-up? She's armed with a sword and wears shuriken earrings. Saturn Girl calls her Soultaker and reminds her against killing.

Who is she? Is this character a future legacy character deriving from Katana? Soultaker is the name of Katana's blade. She also shares some costume elements from previous versions of Katana's attire. However, this character has not shown up in Bendis's Legion of Super-Heroes. Perhaps this Legion is from the future and she hasn't met them yet.

7 What Is Mon-El's Relationship To Superboy?

In the third issue, Triplicate Girl started to divulge some information about a relationship Mon-El has to Superboy. Jon Kent cluelessly cuts her off. Various iterations of the Legion have strived to not give Superboy any future knowledge.

Traditionally, Mon-El has taken his name from Superman's real name. However, it seems as there is more of a personal reason for it in the version of the Legion. The solicitation for the fifth issue promises the answer to this mystery.

6 How Is The Legion Supposed To Stop Damian Wayne From Becoming Another Hitler?

That little tidbit of knowledge also came in the third issue. Damian Wayne isn't allowed to stay with the Legion due to what he will become as he gets older. Apparently, this fate is bad enough for Chameleon Boy to call him "Baby Hitler." Given that he's the grandson of Ra's Al-Ghul, this isn't surprising information.

However, Brainiac 5 mentions that Legion's existence is dedicated to hoping for his destiny to change. This implies that something can be done to change the Legion's past. Does Jon Kent have something to do with that?

5 What Is President Brande's Agenda?

President Brande of the United Planets is openly hostile to the Legion. Rose Forrest has confronted her personally and even threatened her. Saturn Girl has been in her head and doesn't trust her. The hostility echoes the threeboot Legion where the Legion was a cultural revolution.

Saturn Girl says that all Brande thinks about is using the Legion as a weapon for her purpose. The hostility between government and the Legion even goes back to the Bronze Age. If this is R.J. Brande, then the relationship is very different, indeed.

4 What Are The Other Cities Under Domes On Earth?

From the moment fans saw Earth as a construct of domed cities, the question became exactly how did this happen? The story in Millennium is of a cycle Earth had of destroying and rebuilding civilization. At some point, it resulted in the physical destruction of the planet. For the Legion, it echoes the Five Years Later era where Earth blew up.

Metropolis is one of those domed cities, and Gotham isn't. It's also known that Atlantis isn't one of them either since it was one of the first Earth cities to disappear. Hopefully, future stories will let us in on which cities survived the destruction. Of course, this may just be rebuilt cities that are being repopulated.

3 How Many Live In Legion Headquarters?

In the first issue, Saturn Girl tells Superboy that the entire domed city of Metropolis is Legion Headquarters. We also see residents that aren't Legionnaires. It seems odd that a vast metropolis with all of those buildings would be for only a handful of beings. How many residents does Metropolis have?

One could assume that there is a support structure for the Legion. Not everything can be run by Computo. That also means that there must be some sort of government for Metropolis since the Legion can't be bothered to handle every little detail of taking care of citizens.

2 How Powerful A Threat Is Mordru?

Initially, Mordru seemed more like a crime boss with special effects. He was taken down by Ultra Boy but stops Saturn Girl from probing his mind. Wildfire's energy abilities didn't harm him, either. The Planet Gotham Commissioner doesn't want to risk opening his cell, even with the Legion there.

Mordru has historically been one of the most powerful threats in the DC Universe. It's obvious that there's a definite threat from this version of him, but it's undefined. He is just one of many Legion villains, though. Hopefully, we won't wait too long to see the real Mordru threat.

1 How Does Triplicate Girl's Powers Work?

Triplicate Girl has become one/three of the most visible members of this new Legion. Maybe it's because her design just stands out so well. Perhaps Ryan Sook likes drawing her. Perhaps Bendis has plans for her. We've also not seen her reintegrate, despite what her Frichtman Tag says about her.

There is one weird panel in the first issue where Triplicate Girl-Pink asks who Ultra Boy's father is. What's especially odd is that Triplicate Girl-Blue answers her. There is a mystery here. Hopefully, it pays off soon. Of course, that can be said with all of these mysteries.
