New Images from "Watchmen"

Director Zack Snyder released today on the official "Watchmen" blog new images of the startlingly Dave Gibbons-esque New York City backlot built for the forthcoming Warner Bros. feature based on the DC Comics graphic novel by Gibbons and Alan Moore. Among the images is a photograph featuring a figure who appears to be the comic's legendary character Rorschach.

Said Snyder in the posting, "Since the New York City that is rendered in the graphic novel is so particular, it was very important to me that our backlot speak the same language, the vernacular of 'Watchmen.'"

Also listed in the blog entry are a number of factoids about the Vacouver-based set, including specific dimensions, building materials, and time periods for which the backlot must function (1938, 1945, 1977, 1985, etc.)
