Fox and IMAX have reached a multi-picture agreement that will bring films such as "Deadpool" and the upcoming "Wolverine" installment to theaters. TheWrap reports this deal also includes "Independence Day Resurgence" and "Maze Runner: The Death Cure."

"Given their exciting upcoming slate, the agreement makes strategic sense for both companies," IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond said in a statement.

"We are very happy to announce this new global affiliation with IMAX and look forward to offering our audiences another choice in their viewing of our movies," Paul Hanneman, Fox's president of worldwide marketing and distribution, and Chris Aronson, president of domestic theatrical distribution, said. "We look forward to working with our partners in what is sure to be an exciting and rewarding future."

Additionally, Karan Soni -- who will play a character called Dopinder in "Deadpool" -- opened up about his character during an interview with ComicBook.com. "I do not kick ass. I play a character who's pretty scared," he explained. "So don't expect me to put on any supersuits. I'm purely there for comedic relief."

He described his part as a "nerdy character," adding that he and Deadpool "kind of play buddies in the movie."

Directed by Tim Miller and starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein, Brianna Hildebrand and Gina Carano, "Deadpool" is scheduled to open Feb. 12, 2016.
