Lupita Nyong’o's mysterious pirate Maz Kanata makes a brief appearance in the latest Disney Channel behind-the-scenes feature for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

The diminutive character, whose voice has played such a prominent role in the film's trailers and TV spots, has been little seen in promotional materials, landing only a cameo on one of the posters. Director J.J. Abrams revealed last month that the goggles-wearing alien has lived more than 1,000 years, much of it in a castle surrounded by misfits.

"She’s had this watering hole for about a century," he teased, "and it’s like another bar that you’d find in a corner of the ‘Star Wars’ universe.”

The Disney Channel feature is joined in the latest promotional push by a featurette focusing on Rey that features "The Force Awakens" stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, as well as an action-packed new TV spot that offers a good look at "Return of the Jedi's" Nien Nunb (Mike Quinn) piloting an X-wing.

Opening Dec. 18, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" also stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max Von Sydow.
