New "Flash" Season 2 Image Teases Jay Garrick's Arrival

With the tagline "Get up to speed," the latest teaser image for "The Flash" season two features Jay Garrick's helmet front and center.

This isn't the first time that "Flash" fans got a glimpse of Garrick's helmet; during the climactic final showdown between Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh), the singularity caused by the speedsters spat out Garrick's helmet. Though Garrick's arrival was only teased in this scene, Teddy Sears has since been cast in the role.

Described as a "mysterious figure," Garrick will take on a mentor role with Barry. "Jay has seen some things that Barry hasn't seen, and he's going to be helping him through the process," executive producer Gabrielle Stanton explained in an interview. The image's tagline could be a nod to Garrick's role in Barry's life.

Starring Gustin, Carlos Valdes and Jesse L. Martin, "The Flash" returns to The CW on Oct. 6 on at 8 p.m. EST.
