In a new behind-the-scenes featurette for "The Flash," executive producer Gabrielle Stanton and visual effects supervisor Armen Kevorkian explain how the show went about creating the feel of a "live comic book" for season one.

Revealing that the visual effects team went with "part science, part what's visually cool" for the overall look of the show, Kevorkian points out which scenes are completely CGI, how they realistically captured Grant Gustin's likeness for his speed scenes and the way they brought Gorilla Grodd to life. He also teases the Atom Smasher's abilities, as the character arrives in the debut episode of season two.

Starring Gustin, Carlos Valdes and Jesse L. Martin, "The Flash" returns to The CW on Oct. 6 on at 8 p.m. EST.
