Marvel Studios teased a gorgeous behind-the-scenes Doctor Strange featurette that will be included in the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” home release. While the snippet includes precious little new footage, it includes new interview segments, reveals more about the film’s heroes and villains and also shows off some spectacular concept art that informs the movie’s aesthetic.

The excerpt from the featurette provides a few new details about the motivations of Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), but its main focus is on Mads Mikkelsen’s Kaecelius, a character who is unfamiliar to everyone but hardcore Doctor Strange fans, and his band of zealots. Originally a servant of Mordo, and a minor figure in the 1960s Doctor Strange comic books, the film’s Kaecilius is the leader of the Zealots, a group that opposes The Ancient One.

Kaecilius is -- or was, rather -- part of the Ancient One’s temple, but his focus is elsewhere. Marvel Studios head Kevin Fiege tells us that the Zealots are “people who become seduced by what they find on the other side,” and that Kaecilius is “interested in spilling the barriers between these dimensions.” We are not shown how these realms appear in the final version of movie, but the concept art looks spectacular. “Captain America: Civil War” will be released on digital HD platforms and the Disney Movies Anywhere app on September 2; the film will be available on Blu-ray, DVD and on-demand on September 13. “Doctor Strange” will be released in theaters on November 4.
