Crunchyroll has released an extended trailer, complete with English subtitles, for "Berserk," the new anime series based on Kentaro Miura’s long-running dark fantasy manga. The series debuted Friday on Japan’s WOWOW and Crunchyroll, and has already received high marks.

The story centers on protagonist Guts, a lone mercenary in a medieval Europe-inspired world, and antagonist Griffith, the leader of a mercenary band. “Berserk” was previously adapted as an anime series that aired from 1997 to 1998. This version, however, follows Guts in his “Black Swordsman” persona, which was explored somewhat in the manga but only briefly touched upon by the original anime.2
