New "Avengers" Poster Showcases a City in Peril, New Title for UK Audiences

Marvel has released a new poster for Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" showcasing new, detailed looks at the stars of the film. Amusingly entitled "Loki Strikes Back" by actor Tom Hiddleston on Twitter, the "Avengers" poster has Iron Man center stage with the background of the city featuring Stark Tower, the Chrysler Building and an aircraft on fire. According to Total Film, an international version of the poster has been released for the UK where the film has been renamed "Avengers Assemble" to avoid confusion with the classic UK television show "The Avengers."

The new poster hits in anticipation of Wednesday's new "Avengers" trailer, which Marvel has teased on the official "Avengers" Facebook page. Directed by Joss Whedon, "The Avengers" stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill and Stellan Skarsgård as Dr. Selvig.
