New "Arrow" Trailer Expands On Oliver Queen's Vigilante Mission

The CW has debuted an extended preview of "Arrow," the upcoming superhero drama based on DC Comics' Green Arrow.

The three-and-a-half-minute trailer weaves together mostly previously seen footage to clearly lay out the premise of the series: Wealthy young bad boy Oliver Queen (played by "Hung" alum Stephen Amell) is missing at sea and presumed dead only to be discovered five years later marooned on a remote island. Returning to Starling City with a mastery of the bow and a determination to make a difference, he wages a war on crime and corruption as the costumed vigilante Arrow.

"The day Oliver Queen died is the day something new was born," Amell says in voiceover.

Developed by "Green Lantern" screenwriters Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti and "Fringe" co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, "Arrow" has recently added "Torchwood" star John Barrowman as a mysterious acquaintance of the Queen family and Australian actress Jessica De Gouw as the Huntress. They join Amell and a central cast that includes Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn, Katie Cassidy ("Supernatural," "Melrose Place") as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey ("Dexter") as John Diggle, Willa Holland ("The O.C.") as Thea Queen, Susanna Thompson ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine") as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne ("24") as Detective Quentin Lance.

"Arrow" premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
