by  in Movie News Comment

With the release date for “Alien: Covenant” quickly approaching, 20th Century Fox has been steadily feeding the hype machine as of late. Now, thanks to the film’s official Twitter page, we have our first look at a brand new poster, as well as the promise of a new trailer premiering tomorrow.

Those familiar with the “Alien” franchise will immediately recognize this image as a Xenomorph egg, known in-film as an Ovomorph. However, whether or not this means the upcoming trailer will give us a definitive look at the creature within the egg, or even the Queen who laid it, is anyone’s guess.

In any case, it certainly appears that the studio is looking to ramp up excitement for the “Prometheus” sequel. After all, it was just last week that we got a photo of the Covenant crew setting foot on a new planet, as well as an extended look at a scene titled “Prologue: Last Supper.”

“Alien: Covenant,” which is currently in post-production, is said by director Ridley Scott to be the second in a new “Alien” trilogy, all of which lead up to the original 1979 film.

Opening May 19, “Alien: Covenant” stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.
