The “Alien” franchise has very much embraced the stylings of artist H.R. Giger, and the Swiss surrealist continues to influence this world in the latest photo from “Alien: Covenant.” The picture — which arrived on the film’s official Twitter account — gazes down a long, ribbed hallway that’s reminiscent of the aesthetic from past “Alien” installments.
Like the images released before it, the latest photo had a mysterious number attached to it: 185612082104. The last two photos posted to the Twitter account also had numbers: 130112062104 and 220512052104. It’s unclear what these numbers symbolize at this time, or if they’ll have any bearing on the upcoming film.
Directed by Ridley Scott, “Alien: Covenant” will serve as a bridge between “Prometheus” and the “Alien” series.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
“Alien: Covenant” stars franchise newcomers Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smollet and Katherine Waterston, as well as returning “Prometheus” cast members Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce. “Alien: Covenant” opens in theaters May 19, 2017.
