DC Comics has produced two commercials to help promote the publisher’s initiative The New Age of DC Heroes. The two 30-second ad spots are expected to run on television networks TBS, El Rey, Syfy, Adult Swim, TruTV and TNT. They will also play on CWTV.com and the CW app, and will run online on Google, YouTube, Facebook and Reddit.
One commercial features the new books Damage, The Silencer, Sideways and The Terrifics; each part of The New Age initiative. The second highlights The Immortal Men, New Challengers, The Curse of Brimstone and The Unexpected.
The expectation is that these new ads will help the line reach a new audience of readers beyond the usual comics crowd. DC Comics has used this strategy before by producing similar commercials for line-wide launches The New 52 (in 2011) and Rebirth (2016).
The New Age of DC Heroes is led by a talented pool of creators, including Jim Lee, Andy Kubert, John Romita Jr., Tony S. Daniel, Ivan Reis, Ryan Sook, Philip Tan and Kenneth Rocafort, who are collectively known as DC’s Master Class of artists. The writers on the series are Scott Snyder, Jeff Lemire, Dan Abnett, James Tynion IV, Robert Venditti, Steve Orlando, Justin Jordan and DC Co-Publisher Dan DiDio.
