Netflix's Never Have I Ever proved to be a unique take on teenage comedy and romance in Los Angeles, told through the eyes of Maitreyi Ramakrishnan's Devi Vishwakumar. Not only does Devi struggle with her Indian culture and the path her mom, Nalini, expects her to take, she's also reeling from the sudden death of her dad, Mohan. Luckily, despite ups and downs, Devi's life seems to be heading down a road she's choosing by the time Season 1 ends. Her mom trusts her more, she's moving back home and more intriguingly, she's hooking up with Ben, her rival from high school that turned out to be the person she's grown to trust most. With Season 2 slated to premiere in July, let's look at what to expect from her and the Never Have I Ever gang.

Devi's Haphazard Love Life

Season 2 will find Devi in a love triangle but this time, she's not pursuing Paxton -- he's chasing after her. The first season had her, and many girls at school, running down the swim champ and dream guy in Sherman Oaks. However, Paxton just wasn't into them. While he and Devi clicked, he didn't like her dishonesty and how she lied about them sleeping together. Unfortunately, by the time Paxton comes around and tries to get with Devi, she's already with Ben.

Fans are eager to see how she'll react knowing Paxton is ready to make the leap, in what could be another Dawson's Creek-type situation. Ben turned out to be a really nice guy, though, keeping her at his mansion after she left home and even helping her realize she couldn't miss her mom sprinkling her dad's ashes. He's more caring and warm, so Devi will have to choose who really has her heart.

Devi's Wacky Friends

Ben will also have to figure out his academic path as he and Devi are neck and neck for valedictorian. Ironically, he's wondering if he's making his own destiny too. All his parents do, apart from neglecting him, is chuck money and goodies to keep him occupied at the mansion. As for Fabiola, now that she and Devi have reconciled, fans are eager to see how she handles being out as gay. She and Eve are dating and her family seems to be cool with it, but Fab's still tentative.

As for Eleanor, she has to decide if she wants to hone her skill and pursue her acting career. She's still reeling from her mom, Joyce, leaving her again to go to Hollywood, so a jealous Joyce may return, rejected once more. Their dynamic is full of controversy, so Devi and Fab will have to protect El from getting hurt once more. Paxton, apart from his Devi problems, also has to help his sister, Rebecca, with her fashion career. Seeing as Rebecca loves using Devi as a model, there's going to be spicy moments there too.

Devi's Family Issues

Now that Devi and Nalini are on the same page, Season 2 has to iron out Nalini's decisions. She tried to uproot the family and take them to India last year after pressure from her kin to leave the American life behind. She has to embrace her own future outside of her roots. Fans are hoping Nalini might even start dating again because she's so emotionally closed off. It became unhealthy and manifested in her lashing out at Paxton and Devi.

As for Kamala, Devi's cousin, there's even more drama there as she dumped Steve for Prashant in an arranged marriage. Devi didn't like that because Kamala gave into the stereotype, plus she went with Prashant for looks and superficial reasons. Their arc will have them confronting these cultural and personal issues, as Devi sees her as a sister, mentor and strong person who's making strides as a powerful woman at Caltech. As such, she wants Kamala to be smarter when it comes to romance.

Created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Darren Barnet, Ramona Young, Lee Rodriguez, Richa Moorjani, Poorna Jagannathan, Jaren Lewison and John McEnroe. Season 1 is available on Netflix with Season 2 premiering July 2021.
