WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 2 of Never Have I Ever, now available on Netflix.

Season 2 of Netflix's Never Have I Ever puts Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) through the emotional wringer again, but this time, a lot of it is self-imposed. She got caught juggling Ben (Jaren Lewison) and Paxton (Darren Barnet), but the latter has forgiven her after she helped him realize he could become a better student. Sadly, Paxton's still ashamed so he keeps their romance secret, which leads to Devi breaking up with him.

Though things do get better for Devi at the Winter Dance, Season 2 of Never Have I Ever does conclude on a heartbreaking note for key figures around her.

Who's Crowned Winter Royalty?

Fabiola and a student pinned against the locker looking up.

Many expected Devi and Paxton to be crowned, but Paxton ghosted Devi because dances aren't his thing. She's there solo, but still gets to enjoy a major win as her bestie, Fabiola, wins the award, along with her girlfriend, Eve. They entered to break gender norms as queens, but as they have their acceptance speech, Fab shows up, changed out of her elegant wear. She's in her Robotics Team uniform once more, as she hated conforming to Eve's friends' standards.

They wanted a chic-looking lesbian couple to accept the tiaras and make a statement, but Fab makes it clear that she wants privacy in their relationship. Eve agrees that it got out of hand, and as they dance and kiss, it's met with rapturous applause by classmates and friends. It does a world of good for Fab as she's only now discovering her sexual identity as was nervous how family and the school would receive her.

Does Paxton Become Devi's Prince?

Devi and Paxton talk at a party in Never Have I Ever

Paxton's always been bashed by his sister, Rebecca, for treating Devi bad, ergo why Devi's always been so insecure. He recalls all the moments they spent together, how Devi encouraged him to be better and now how scholarship opportunities are opening up for him outside of swimming. He suits up and heads off after getting a call from school informing him that his grades are improving. But sadly, he hits Devi with his car as she's leaving, feeling overwhelmed.

She couldn't stand seeing Ben and Aneesa, her former rival, looking like they're in love, but she's quickly distracted by Paxton's confession. He wants to go public as her boyfriend as he's no longer ashamed that he was cheated on. They enter the dance and while Paxton's friends look on with scorn, he's happy to be there dancing with Devi as he wants to give them a proper shot.

How Does Ben Take the News?

Ben doesn't handle the sight well. He scoffs, reiterating that it's always been Paxton -- someone Devi lusted for and wanted to lose her virginity to in a cosmetic arc. But El, Devi's other bestie, is next to him by the punch bowl and tells Ben it wasn't always Paxton. The season started with Devi leaning towards Ben in her pros and cons list as he took her in when she left home and also got her to her dad's ash ceremony.

Sadly, El confirms that they helped her make a superficial choice as they wanted her to be with the school's sex symbol. It leaves Ben heartbroken. Aneesa's great for him, but clearly, he's still in love with Devi. His reaction of disbelief, shock and disgust at El's words suggest he wants a fair shot at winning Devi back. As much as he's hurt, though, it'll wreck Aneesa who's been nothing short of perfect and thinks they're on good ground.

Created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever's Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
