Ghostface might not have seen the last of Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott after all.

Credible industry source ViewerAnon has heard that the actor has successfully negotiated a deal to return for Scream 6. The ViewerAnon Twitter account, which has been extremely accurate when it comes to MCU and DCEU rumors, then stated that "the deal apparently calls for a much bigger role in [Scream 7]," which has not yet been announced by Paramount or Spyglass Media. Campbell had previously confirmed earlier this month that she would not be returning for the upcoming sixth installment in the popular meta-slasher franchise after declining an offer she felt did not line up with what she was worth.

"Sadly, I won't be making the next Scream film," Campbell said at the time. "As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise." The actor admitted that it was "a very difficult decision to move on" from the franchise and that she had nothing but love for all the Scream fans who had "always been so incredibly supportive to me. I'm forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years."

Campbell first appeared as Sidney Prescott in the satirical 1996 slasher film Scream. Alongside Courteney Cox and David Arquette -- who played Gale Weathers and Dwight "Dewey" Riley, respectively -- Campbell subsequently reprised her role in Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), Scream 4 (2011) and Scream (2022). The upcoming sixth film will mark the first time Campbell and Cox appear in the franchise without Arquette, whose character Dewey was killed by Ghostface 2022's Scream.

Scream 6 was announced in February 2022 by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media. The entire creative team behind the fifth Scream film will return, with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directing a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. The upcoming film will follow the four survivors from 2022's Scream as they leave Woodsboro behind to start a fresh chapter in New York.

In addition to Campbell and Cox, returning stars for Scream 6 include Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Hayden Panettiere, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding, who reprise their roles as Tara Carpenter, Sam Carpenter, Kirby Reed, Mindy Meeks-Martin and Chad Meeks-Martin respectively from previous films. Dermot Mulroney has also closed a deal to join the cast of the film as a cop while Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny have been cast in undisclosed roles.

Scream 6 opens in theaters on March 31, 2023.
