Netflix's The Witcher adapted some of the most well known stories from Andrzej Sapkowski's novel, The Last Wish, as well as Sword of Destiny. With that in mind, there were certain characters and stories that fans of the franchise expected to see in Season 1, one of the most prominent being Nivellen from "A Grain of Truth."

It appears that the cursed character will finally have his live-action debut in Season 2 of the hit fantasy series. According to Redanian Intelligence, the show has already cast Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen. The report cites a casting breakdown obtained by the website, which lists Hivju as the actor playing "Nigel," which, judging by the accompanying description, is in fact Nivellen.

Hivju is best known for his portrayal of the wildling, Tormund Giantsbane, in HBO's epic fantasy series, Game of Thrones. He was introduced in Season 3 and gradually became a prominent character toward the end of the series.

Sapkowski's Beauty and the Beast-inspired short story, "A Grain of Truth," sees Geralt of Rivia discover a manor, deep in the forest, where a monstrous, cursed nobleman dwells. The tale is one of  the few in the early novels that illustrates some of the more complex aspects of the witcher profession, as well as the moral ambiguity of human relationships.

Relative to other stories in The Last Wish, it functions independently from the rest of the saga, which is likely why it could not be adapted in Season 1. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has indicated in the past that she intended to adapt the story, which she herself has expressed is one of her favorites in the series.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix.
