Judging from this first trailer, fans of 1980s classics like "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial," "Gremlins" and "The Goonies" will probably want to add "Stranger Things" to their Netflix queues.

The eight-episode supernatural thriller, which at one point was referred to as “Montauk,” center on a young boy who suddenly vanishes in a Long Island beach town in 1980. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Written and directed by brothers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (“Wayward Pines,” “Hidden”), the series stars Winona Ryder and David Harbour. "Stranger Things" premieres July 15 on Netflix.
