Educational series and computer game franchise Carmen Sandiego is getting an animated revival series on Netflix next month and the streaming service has announced when the upcoming educational series will premiere.The updated series will premiere for its 20-episode first season on January 18, as announced by Netflix's official Twitter account.RELATED: Netflix Producing Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis Movie
The new series stars Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as the eponymous globe-trotting master thief who steals various landmarks, leaving clues to her and the stolen goods' whereabouts with geographic puzzles. Rodriguez is also slated to star in a live-action film as the character for Netflix which has been in various stages of development since 2012.
A revival animated series for the franchise was officially announced by Netflix in April 2017 along with Rodriguez's casting. Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard was later added to the series' voice cast, inviting viewers to solve the thief's latest string of crimes around the world. Additional details about the series, including additional cast members and the locales involved with the revival, are currently being kept under wraps.
