Netflix's The Witcher filming is underway on the Canary Islands. Now, new images and a video from the set have emerged, giving fans what appears to be their first look at Anya Chalotra as the powerful sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg.

The video, uploaded to Reddit by a user named Henckens, offers a brief glimpse of Chalotra rehearsing a fight scene with an unidentified mage, while an unconscious woman lies on the ground between them. A photo uploaded by a user named Gravemaster7 gives an even better look at the characters' costumes.

The front of the Chalotra's costume isn't visible, but we do get a good sense of the overall color scheme and style. Fans will note that it seems to differ from descriptions provided in Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, in which Yen is always described as wearing a combination of black and white.

Chronologically, Yennefer of Vengerberg first appeared in Sapkowski's novel The Last Wish, in which it was revealed how her destiny became entwined with Geralt's thanks to a wish the latter made in the chaos of fighting a malevolent Djinn. Thanks to powerful magic, Yennefer has retained her youth and acquired great beauty despite being almost a century old.

Unlike the open set on the Canary Islands, the cast and crew have gone to great lengths in order to secure any and all details surrounding the show's plot and characters. So, while a brief synopsis has appeared on the show's Netflix page, it's anyone's guess as to how much of the novels the show will faithfully adapt. However, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has stated that the upcoming series will attempt to remain as faithful as possible to the source material. To that end, Andrzej Sapkowski is attached as creative consultant.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. No release date has been given and according to Hissrich, the show is unlikely to air before 2020.
