Netflix's The Witcher: Blood Origin has added Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Star Trek: Discovery star Michelle Yeoh to its cast.

Yeoh will play a character named Scían. According to Netflix, "Scían is the very last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves. No one can come close to her artistry with the blade, and no one carries as much loss within their heart. When a chance presents itself to retrieve a stolen sacred sword, taken from her fallen tribe by nefarious means, she launches herself into a deadly quest that will change the outcome of the Continent."

Blood Origin is set 1,200 years prior to the events of the Witcher series, in the aftermath of the cataclysmic event known in Andrzej Sapkowski's novels as the Conjunction of the Spheres. The six-part live-action series is helmed by The Witcher writer Declan de Barra, while Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich will serve as executive producer.

Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time - the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.

The Witcher: Blood Origin stars Laurence O’Fuarain, Michelle Yeoh and Jon Prophet. The series has yet to receive a premiere date.
