Netflix debuted the first look at Warrior Nun Season 2 with an action-packed teaser trailer.

The trailer follows protagonist Ava Silvia (Alba Baptista) as she continues her quest to destroy the armies of hell. The footage highlights Ava's powers, both new and familiar, as she manages to sprint across a body of water, quipping that she previously said that she "would learn how to swim." While little is known about the plot of Season 2, the trailer suggests that Ava will be going head-to-head with Adriel, a sinister devil who controls the wraith demons that stole the halo in the first season.

Speaking about his early plans for Warrior Nun Season 2, before Netflix greenlit the project, showrunner Simon Barry teased that the creative team behind the dark fantasy stories had several ideas to continue the story while writing the first installment. "We had ideas out of the first season writing room that we thought would be interesting for a second season if we were lucky enough to get one," Barry said. "Yes, the writers and I discussed at length many ideas for Season 2 and we look forward to being able to implement them."

Warrior Nun fans can expect many of the first season's cast to return to the series, including fan-favorite character Shotgun Mary, played by Toya Turner. When asked what she found appealing about the franchise, Turner noted that the diversity present in the cast and crew was significant to her. "It has a little bit of everything. The diversity and inclusion of it, I've never seen something this varied, I think that's amazing," Turner said. "Our production crew is something like 70% women, which is very new. It looks like it's medieval, it looks like it's in the past, it looks like it's in the future. I haven't seen anything like it, and I think it's just a great way to escape and have fun and it doesn't try to take itself too seriously either. I like that!"

Premiering in 2020, Warrior Nun Season 1 received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics. Many pointed out the show's charismatic cast of lead actors as the main source of entertainment, noting that the characters helped drive an awkwardly-paced plot. In his review for CBR, Sam Stone wrote, "While Warrior Nun's first half proves to be a bit shaky, with a greater emphasis on emotion than action, its cast continues to invite audiences along for the ride as their characters develop."

Based on Ben Dunn's comic book, Warrior Nun stars Alba Baptista, Toya Turner, Thekla Reuten, Lorena Andrea and Kristina Tonteri-Young. Season 2 is slated to premiere on Netflix in winter 2022.
