Fans have been waiting for quite some time for the trailer for Season 3 of Netflix's The Umbrella Academy after the second season ended on a shocking note with the introduction of the Sparrows. This confirmed Five and the Hargreeves siblings jumped back from the '60s to a timeline altered by stopping yet another apocalypse.
Once more, time-meddling is the bane of their very existence, with the trailer finally here to reiterate they'll face stiff opposition from Reginald's new crew if they're to undo their mistakes. Interestingly, it confirmed an epic team-up will take place that could either save Five's team or lead to major destruction and collateral damage down the line.
This can be seen around the 1:48 mark with Viktor (Elliot Page) and Lila (Ritu Arya) combining powers, harnessing the power of the White Violin. The video didn't show the full effects, but fans of the series know this can basically act as a nuclear bomb. Now, what makes this quite intriguing is the way Lila ended things with the team last season.
She was manipulated by the Handler of the Time Commission into keeping Five as a pawn. In the process, Lila fell in love with Diego, but when his siblings fought her, Lila turned out to have powers of her own. She was one of the special 43 kids born October 1, 1989, able to mimic the others' abilities. She could only do so one at a time, but it was enough to help batter Diego and his siblings.
Thankfully, Five would time-jump and spare his clan from being shot to death by the Handler, including Lila who rebelled after finding out the villain killed her parents and transformed her from a child into a weapon. Lila ended up fleeing as well, but it seems like she (or at least a version of her) is going to try to help the Hargreeves crew in the new timeline, where the likes of Pogo are back.
She already used Viktor's explosive powers when they fought, so working with Viktor suggests they're going to have to stop a massive threat. It could be the Sparrows, as Viktor was seen earlier in the clip warning Marcus (the Sparrows' leader) he's not to be messed with, as he blew the world up and caused the apocalypse in the past. It may be Marcus and his crew had some other weapon their Reginald cooked up that requires Lila and Viktor to partner. This may even hint Lila and Diego rekindled feelings as well, ergo why she'd like to save his family.
Another target they could be fighting is the "kugelblitz" Five mentioned, which is an energy orb going around consuming parts of this reality. It appears to be rewriting or removing parts of the paradox Five's family caused, so Viktor and Lila might be attempting to destroy it with their shockwave. Ultimately, if these two titans are to team up, what's for sure is the enemy has got to be quite dangerous. It has fans curious to see if this alliance will help Lila achieve redemption, how the Umbrella Academy react to her possibly joining their ranks and if the team-up can be controlled so as to avert another disaster.
