Audition tapes for the upcoming Netflix adaptation of The Witcher series have surfaced online, confirming that Geralt and Yennefer will serve as the leads of the series.

Series showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich (The Defenders) revealed that auditions for the show would use casting scripts instead of actual dialogue from the show. The casting is open to international actors, as well, with filming expected to begin this November. The videos that have appeared online feature Michael McIntyre (Escape from Ensenada) reading for Geralt and Sarah Wylie (Lincoln) reading for Yennefer.

The highly successful fantasy series (which has been adapted into a phenomenally popular video game series) centers around Geralt, one of the last witchers. Now serving as a mercenary and freelance monster hunter, he’s become a highly skilled warrior.

One of the other main characters is Yennifer, a powerful sorcerer who Geralt falls in love with. The two have to deal with conspiracies, monsters and a whole world full of magical threats and forces.

Other main characters who are expected to appear include Geralt’s adopted daughter Ciri and Geralt’s best friend, the minstrel Dandelion.

The series is expected to air sometime in 2019.
