Ravka's main advantage is its powerful army of Avatar-like magic wielders -- the Grisha -- something that no other country in the world possesses. Ben Barnes will be playing the General of Ravka's army, one of the most important characters of the Shadow and Bone trilogy.

Other cast members include Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, the protagonist of the Shadow and Bone trilogy; Freddie Carter as Kaz Brekker, a brilliant con artist and the main character of the Six of Crows duology; Amita Suman as Inej Ghafa, a secret-taker; Kit Young as Jesper Fahey, a charming sharpshooter; and Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev, an excellent wildlife tracker.

Adapted by showrunner Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and directed by Lee Toland Krieger (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Shadow and Bone does not have a release date.
