Gaiman recently revealed that filming on The Sandman is scheduled to resume in late October by sharing a peek at the show's script on Twitter. Like many Hollywood projects, production had to halt due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19).

Some of Sturridge's past works include Sweetbitter at STARZ and Netflix's Velvet Buzzsaw.

A synopsis of The Sandman can be found below.

A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic--and human--mistakes he's made during his vast existence.

The Sandman is an adaptation of the Vertigo Comics series of the same name by Neil Gaiman. The Netflix series is being developed, co-written and executive produced by Allan Heinberg, who also serves as the showrunner. Gaiman and David S. Goyer will also executive produce and co-write the series. No premiere date has yet been announced by Netflix.
