Another key cast member for the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Netflix series has been found, and this time it's Sabrina's talking cat, Salem.
Announced on Twitter by executive producer and Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer (and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic book writer) Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, fans of the classic TV series and Archie Comics have got a playful first look at Salem -- commonly depicted as a witch who has lived for hundreds of years that was sentenced to spend a century as a cat. The sentence came as punishment for attempting world domination, and saw Salem sent to live with Hilda and Sabrina Spellman. In the Chilling Adventures comic book, Salem was a human who was transformed into a cat as punishment.
While it hasn't been directly confirmed that Salem will indeed be able to talk in the upcoming Riverdale spin-off, it's one of the more recognizable and memorable features from the '90s sitcom inspired by earlier (and more comedic) comic book stories, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Salem could theoretically bring a lot of comedic relief to the series, which otherwise looks to be rather dark.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has a two-season, 20-episode order from Netflix, starring Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman and Jaz Sinclair as Rosalind Walker. There's no release date for the show as of yet.
