In the week since its premiere, the film had garnered over 45 million viewers worldwide and Nielsen revealing over 26 million of the viewers were in the United States, the best ever first week viewership for a Netflix original film.
Taking place in a world where the world has become overrun by monsters that manifest into their victims' greatest fear when they're seen, the post-apocalyptic film has inspired waves of dangerous "Bird Box Challenges" with fans blindfolding themselves while performing mundane tasks in the real-world.
Directed by Susanne Bier, Netflix's Bird Box is now available to stream, and stars Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, Jacki Weaver, Rosa Salazar, Danielle Macdonald, Lil Rel Howery, Tom Hollander, BD Wong, Sarah Paulson, Colson Baker and John Malkovich.
