Netflix Reaches Online Streaming Deal With Major Studios

Netflix and Epix have officially confirmed their long-rumored deal that will give the DVD and online streaming company exclusive online rights to movies from Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate, starting next month.

The new deal - rumored to be worth $1 billion - not only gives Netflix exclusive online access to the library of those three studios, but also the chance to stream new releases from those studios (such as Iron Man 2, The Expendables and Kick-Ass) earlier than before; the usual window was 90 days after pay-per-view premiere.

The five year agreement begins September 1st.
