After appearing as enemies in both Captain America sequels in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Anthony Mackie and Frank Grillo will be teaming up as a mismatched duo on opposite sides of the law in Netflix's Point Blank.
The streaming service released a trailer for the original film, showing Mackie as an emergency room nurse whose wife is kidnapped by corrupt cops in exchange for one his patients, a wounded career criminal portrayed by Grillo.
As the two men are progressively drawn into a violent world of rival gangs, running gunfights and an inventive action sequence in a car wash, they must still contend they are both now on the run from the law.
Mackie has starred in the MCU as Sam Wilson/Falcon, with Avengers: Endgame alluding to him becoming the new Captain America after inheriting the iconic vibranium shield from a retired Steve Rogers. Mackie's debut was in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier alongside Grillo who starred as Brock Rumlow, a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative revealed to be the villainous Hydra agent Crossbones. While the two characters came to blows in the MCU, it looks like they will form a de facto duo in the upcoming action thriller.
Directed by Joe Lynch, Point Blank stars Frank Grillo, Anthony Mackie, and Marcia Gay Harden. It will premiere on July 12 on Netflix.
