Netflix has ordered "Montauk," a supernatural drama written and directed by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, the twin brothers behind the horror-thriller "Hidden."
The streaming service has ordered eight episodes, set to debut next year.
Set in 1980 Montauk, Long Island, the series centers on the disappearance of a young boy. As friends, family and police search for answers, they're drawn into a mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl. Netflix describes "Montauk" as "a love letter to the '80s classics that captivated a generation."
"Matt and Ross are emerging filmmakers with an unmistakable passion for genre and suspense," Cindy Holland's Netflix's vice president of original content, said in a statement. "Their unique voice infuses this coming-of-age drama with supernatural thrills that will captivate our global audience."
The Duffers will also serve as executive producers, alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.
