Netflix's upcoming He-Man follow-up Masters of the Universe: Revelation will feature commentary from creator Kevin Smith and the rest of the show's writers.

Smith revealed this series addition during a Fatman Beyond episode with co-writer Marc Bernardin as part of a "Masters of the Universe Revelation Celebration" honoring the writing team. "We take each episode, we do the commentary track with the writer that wrote the episode so Marc did three... episode three, so we sat down yesterday and recorded that," he explained. "Tim Sheridan, who did four, came over and then next week Diya [Mishra], who did episode two, and Eric [Carrasco], who did episode five, uh will come over and I sat solo for my episode one. But the rest of the time it was like me sitting there and chit-chatting and whatnot."

Serving as a continuation of the 1983 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon timeline, Masters of the Universe: Revelation dropped its first official trailer in early June. The trailer teased more of the ongoing conflict between Prince Adam/He-Man (Chris Wood) and Skeletor (Mark Hamill) for control of Castle Greyskull, as well as new battles between the Masters of the Universe and Skeletor's Evil Warriors over the fate of Eternia. Masters of the Universe: Revelation's story will also be split into two parts, with the first half of episodes debuting on July 23 alongside an aftershow hosted by Smith, actor Tiffany Smith and Mattel Television Vice President Rob David.

Prior to Revelation, the He-Man franchise was continued in 1990's The New Adventures of He-Man, which lasted one season, and rebooted in 2002's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, which ran for two before its cancelation. Netflix also rebooted He-Man's spinoff series She-Ra: Princess of Power into She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which ended in 2020 after five seasons. However, showrunner Noelle Stevenson's take on the She-Ra storyline did not reference characters from the Masters of the Universe timeline nor protagonist Adora's status as Adam's twin sister.

Developed by Kevin Smith and produced by Mattel Television with animation by Powerhouse Animation, Masters of the Universe: Revelation stars Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Chris Wood as Prince Adam/He-Man, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Stephen Root as Cringer, Diedrich Bader as King Randor/Trap Jaw, Griffin Newman as Orko, Tiffany Smith as Andra, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Alan Oppenheimer (original Skeletor) as Moss Man, Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Justin Long as Roboto, Jason Mewes as Stinkor, Phil LaMarr as He-Ro, Tony Todd as Scare Glow, Cree Summer as Priestess, Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man and Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man. The series premieres July 23 on Netflix.
