Ahead of its fourth-quarter results, streaming giant Netflix projects that the French heist series Lupin has been viewed by over 70 million subscribers.

To give some context to the series' success, Season 3 of the popular Karate Kid spinoff Cobra Kai is projected to reach just 41 million households in its first 28 days of release while romantic period drama Bridgerton is projected to reach 63 million subscribers.

Created by George Kay, Lupin is inspired by the popular Maurice Leblanc novels about gentleman thief and master of disguise, Arsène Lupin. The story follows Assane Diop, played by Omar Sy, as he recreates several of Lupin's heists in an effort to reconnect with his family and clear his father's name. Netflix stated the five-episode show is, "already ranked no. 1 in the top 10 in dozens of countries, including Brazil, Vietnam, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Sweden and many more."

"Since the release of the series, the original Maurice Leblanc book has regained interest internationally 114 years after it's first release, with it now trending on many marketplaces in France, Italy, Spain, the U.S., the U.K., Korea and others," Netflix said.

The Netflix quarterly subscriber and financial results provide updates and commentary about the performance of key original shows and make projections for the next year. In regards to the show's popularity, the streaming giant went on to say that Lupin has become, "our biggest French hit."

Lupin stars Omar Sy, Vincent Londez, Lidivine Sagnier, Hervé Pierre, Soufiane Guerrab, Etan Simon, Shirine Boutella, Antoine Guoy and Clotilde Hesme. Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
