Netflix has revealed that Naruto and other popular anime are leaving the streaming service.
As originally reported by Anime News Network, viewers won't be able to stream Seasons 1 through 9 of the iconic ninja anime series after Oct. 31. Bleach the Movie: Fade to Black and Bleach the Movie: Hell Verse will no longer be available after Oct. 14; the mainline Bleach series has already left the platform.
While Netflix will soon no longer be the home to Naruto and Bleach, several new anime have recently premiered on the platform, including Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Uncle From Another World and Bastard!!: Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy. Drifting Home, the latest anime movie from Studio Colorido (Burn The Witch), made its debut on the streaming service earlier this month. The film follows a group of children stranded at sea in an apartment complex as they attempt to survive and find help.
Mangaka Masashi Kishimoto published his Naruto series in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1999 to 2014, producing 72 volumes. The story follows the titular orange-clad ninja as he strives to become the leader of his village. Studio Pierrot adapted Kishimoto's manga into two anime series -- Naruto, which originally ran for 220 episodes between 2002 and 2007, and Naruto Shippuden, which initially aired its 500 episodes between 2007 and 2017.
The Bleach manga series by Tite Kubo was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2001 and 2016. The manga's narrative, told across 74 volumes, focuses on the journey of Ichigo Kurosaki, a delinquent high school student with the ability to see spirits. Pierrot also adapted Kubo's story, producing an anime that first ran its 366 episodes from 2004 to 2014.
There’s Good News for Naruto and Bleach Fans
While both beloved series will leave Netflix by the end of next month, there have also been more exciting developments for both Naruto and Bleach recently. An incredible Naruto statue is available for preorder on Sideshow; it depicts the epic showdown between the Fourth Hokage and the Nine-Tailed Fox. In terms of Bleach, a new anime adaptation, titled Thousand-Year Blood War, will debut next month. A wealth of promotional material has been released in the buildup to the premiere, giving long-term fans and new viewers glimpses of what the story has in store. The latest trailer features fan-favorite characters like Uryu Ishida, Orihime Inoue, Rukia Kuchiki and Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck (aka Nel).
