Jessica Jones received an updated title on Disney+ following its migration from Netflix.

As shown on the streaming service, Disney+ has changed the title card for Marvel Television's Jessica Jones to A.K.A. Jessica Jones. While a small change, it is in line with the episode titles for the series, which all begin with "AKA" as well. A reason for this change was not provided.

Starring Krysten Ritter as the titular super-powered private investigator, Marvel's Jessica Jones premiered on Netflix in 2015, where it ran for three seasons until its cancellation in 2019. Jessica Jones was the second of Marvel's Netflix original series, with the first being Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox.

Marvel Television to Disney+

Like Jessica Jones, Daredevil ran for three seasons on Netflix between 2015 and 2018. Marvel also released subsequent Netflix shows including Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher. While each series referenced the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, whether or not they were considered canon within the films was left uncertain. Following the release of Daredevil's third and final season, each Marvel Netflix show was canceled and removed from the MCU canon in 2018, nearly a year before the launch of Disney+ in 2019. All Marvel Television Netflix shows are now available to stream on Disney+.

Currently, it's unclear how Jessica Jones will fit into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or if Ritter will reprise the role in a future project. However, Ritter would not be the first Marvel Television series alum to reprise their role for the MCU. Notably, Cox appeared as Matt Murdock in the 2021 Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures film Spider-Man: No Way Home, while his Daredevil co-star Vincent D'Onofrio reprised his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Disney+'s Hawkeye.

"We understood what Marvel was doing because Disney+ [was] coming out...," D'Onofrio said of the cancellations in a previous interview. "When you're in this business a long time like we have all been, it kind of made sense business-wise. What didn't make sense to us was why we wouldn't continue that show or the idea of how that worked and how well it worked.

Following the announcement that Netflix would no longer host these Marvel Studios shows, there was concern from fans that Disney would censor each show's more mature themes. Each of these shows bears the TV-MA rating and features graphic violence, sexual content and strong language not usually depicted not other Marvel productions, which caused Disney+ to reevaluate its parental controls.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher are now available on Disney+.
