Mike Flanagan thanked the many individuals who worked on Netflix's upcoming horror series, The Fall of the House of Usher, as production wrapped.

The director expressed his regard and gratitude on Twitter, writing, "a few minutes ago we wrapped production on THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, closing a huge chapter of my life." He explained how he spent the last three years in the city of Vancouver, working first on The Haunting of Bly Manor, which premiered in 2020, and then his new series. He went on to state, "it's been a privilege to work with some wonderful collaborators, actors, directors, storytellers, crew, family and friends for so long, over THIRTY-FOUR EPISODES of television – the most difficult and rewarding work of my life."

Flanagan thanked several of the actors for The Fall of the House of Usher and Bly Manor by name, including Henry Thomas, Bruce Greenwood, Tahira Sharif, Amelie Smith, Samantha Sloyan and Robert Longstreet. He also praised the city itself, writing, "thank you, Vancouver, for being such a wonderful home for my entire family over these past years. My children practically grew up here. I’m sure I’ll see you soon. Until then, I wish you the best and thank you for everything."

Moreover, the director explained the pleasure of working with Star Wars icon Mark Hamill, who has been cast as "a character surprisingly at home in the shadows." According to Flanagan, people should never meet their heroes unless the said hero is the actor behind Star Wars' Luke Skywalker, who was "just as awesome as you hope and then some."

Netflix's The Fall of the House of Usher adapts Edgar Allan Poe's 1839 short story of the same name. The piece of Gothic horror follows an unnamed narrator as they journey to help a friend; however, when they arrive at Roderick Usher's crumbling estate, the narrator discovers haunting secrets and disturbing revelations.

Similar to Bly Manor, which adapted and reimagined multiple works by Henry James, The Fall of the House of Usher will draw inspiration from many parts of Poe's literary corpus. It is currently unclear what other stories and poems Flanagan is incorporating into the series, as narrative details have been kept under wraps.

Presently, there is no official release date for The Fall of the House of Usher, but Flanagan fans can stream The Haunting of Bly Manor and its predecessor, The Haunting of Hill House, on Netflix.
