Continuing its powerhouse performance as a game-changing streaming service, Netflix is set to adapt the best-selling children's book series "A Series of Unfortunate Events" into a live-action series.

According to Deadline, Netflix is producing the project alongside Paramount Television and is currently on the search for a director.

"On the search for fantastic material that appeals to both parents and kids, the first stop for generations of readers is 'A Series of Unfortunate Events,'" Cindy Holland, VP Original Content at Netflix, told Deadline. "The world created by Lemony Snicket is unique, darkly funny and relatable. We can’'t wait to bring it to life for Netflix members."

In the meta-narrative of the tale, the book series is written and narrated by the fiction Lemony Snicket and follows the adventures, trials and tribulations of orphans Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire as they try to uncover the secret of their parents' deaths.
