Fans of Dawson's Creek can finally hear the classic theme song when they stream the series on Netflix."Dawson's Creek fans, I'm thrilled to announce that — at long last — you will hear Paula Cole's iconic song I Don't Want to Wait when you watch the opening credits!" Dawson's Creek ran on The WB from 1998-2003, and for all six seasons, fans were regaled with Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait" at the start of each episode. However, Sony Music didn't secure the home video and streaming rights to the song when the show was still in production. As such, Cole re-recorded the song this year to help get it back in circulation for Netflix.

What happened with the theme song to Dawson's Creek isn't all that uncommon. In fact, the same thing happened with Fox's Married... With Children, which was forced to replace the iconic "Love and Marriage" theme with a generic tune for Seasons 3-11.

"People really care and are really upset about it," Cole said in April when it was announced that "I Don't Want to Wait" was poised to return. "They tag me in every post -- so much tagging on the socials, fans tagging Netflix and Sony. It's prolific. It's wonderful to have waited this out. I feel like it's not just vindication for me, but for the fans, and for all artists."

All six seasons of Dawson's Creek are now streaming on Netflix.
